We take our breakfast at the hotel: the buffet is the same as the day before with some variations of chicken cooking.
Program of the day: go around the island.
Best way to do it: by bike.
We head south to rent bikes. Just after the great mosque, we stop at « DEJA VU ». We pay 100,000 Rp (€ 6.6) for 2 bikes for 24 hours. It is necessary to check the padlocks, the brakes and especially the horn (very important in Gili T considering the number of people 🙂 ). Let’s go for the tour of the island in direction of the south:
We make our first stop in front of the West Point hotel. It is a beautiful white sand beach, not practical for swimming (not deep enough), but the spot is worth the detour. The water is very clear.
We continue our tour to the western part of the island. There are small swings installed in the water. We’ll come back for the sunset: It’s a must-see at Gili T.
We continue north, we stop at Gili Trawangan Beach for a swim. It is very hot and the sun is beating very hard.
We stop about 250m from our hotel, at a nice little beach bar: « Turtle Beach Bar ». A Reggae atmosphere reigns on the beach. We take deckchairs in the form of beanbags and a few cold drinks on a magnificent beach. We see swimmers starting to gather: we take our masks and snorkels and join the group. A large sea turtle comes to say hello to swimmers. We have the opportunity to approach it very closely: fascinating. The reason of the name given to this beach: « Turtle point » is now clear
To eat, we got 2 Pizzas next door, at: « Danima Resort ». A tuna pizza and a Margherita for 150,000 Rp (10 €) both. We taste them on our little deckchairs, the decor is pleasant and we are delighted. Head to the hotel for a little rest around 2 p.m.
With our reservation for 3 nights, the hotel offers us a 15-minute Balinese massage discovery session for 2 people. In the morning, we made an appointment for 3:00 p.m. A masseuse picks us up from our room, towards the Spa. The massage is restful: it’s good.
Just before sunset, we head west towards the SunSet spot:
We cross the island in width via the street « Jl. Vila Klp » and we discover the inner face of Gili T: fewer tourists, farmers. The decor is more authentic. We arrive at the beach, west side, in time to admire the sunset. The spot is very famous and it’s very crowded. You even have to queue to take pictures on the swings with the sunset background. There are even locals who rent you horses to ride on the water.
We head south to the « Night Market ». We take « Ayam » (chicken) kebabs and beef that we eat on the go. Then we reach our hotel.
