As departure is at 10.45 pm, check-in close at 8.45 pm (2 hours before departure). We will need to be at the port of Civitavecchia around 8:00 p.m. But in the meantime, we have to find a solution to wait : it is 35°C!
On booking.com we find a campsite on the outskirts of town at a reasonable price. We book for one night and explain to the site manager that we will arrive earlier (12:00 p.m. instead of 2:00 p.m.), and we will be leaving around 7:00 p.m. He can rent again aour room for the night.

At 7:00 p.m., we leave for the port of Civitavecchia, located 1 hour away from Rome:
We Arrive at 8:00 p.m., We wait for our turn to check in, the terminal has many indications with the signs of the Grimaldi company :
You should know that only the driver stays in the car, the other passengers board from the doors reserved for pedestrians.
Company agents will explain everything to you. Once on board, we discover the huge ferry with its facilities (Restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, terrace, etc.)
To have a little sleep and rest, you can opt for a cabin, but the business sofa are fine. It’s quite comfortable:
