This is our last full day in New York and we want to take advantage of it to do as many visits as possible. Program for the day:
- The Wall Street district
- See the Statue of Liberty
- Chelsea Market and the High Line
- Manhattan Villages: Greenwich Village, Soho, Little Italy, China Town
- Rockefeller Center
- Go back to Times Square to buy gifts
The program is busy, but we still take the time to stroll through the streets of Jersey City before joining the Journal Square station to take the PATH train

We take the PATH train to arrive at the World Trade Center. We arrive at the magnificent Oculus Center. Oculus is the new futuristic station built at the World Trade Center

We walk in the Wall Street district towards the ferry pier to Staten Island: Whitehall St-South Ferry

Wall Street is the financial district of New York, it symbolizes capitalism in the United States. In the famous street « Wall Street » which gives its name to the district, is the famous: New York Stock Exchange

In the Wall Street district, on Broadway Avenue, do not miss the Wall Street Bull (Charging Bull). It is a famous bronze sculpture. According to tradition, touching the bull’s testicles brings fortune.

We finish our tour in Wall Street to arrive at the « Whitehall St-South Ferry » pier.
To see the Statue of Liberty, you can choose:
The classic solution: Take the ferry from Battery Park: You will stop at Ellis Island to visit the Immigration Museum. Then you will arrive on Liberty Island where the statue is located. The visit costs $25 / person and must be booked in advance: https://www.cityexperiences.com/new-york/city-cruises/statue/
The free solution: Take the ferry to Staten Island. This ferry connects the two islands for free 24 hours a day.

A crossing is made every hour from 00:00 to 06:00 and between 20 and 30 minutes the rest of the day

Departures from Manhattan are from the Staten Island Ferry terminal (Whitehall Ferry Terminal).

For the return trip, it is not allowed to stay on board the ferry. But it is possible to go down, go back through the Staten Island waiting room and get back on the same boat for the return.

The journey lasts 25 minutes and allows you to pass close to the Statue of Liberty and have a beautiful view of the Manhattan Skyline. This solution does not allow access to Liberty Island but it can be a good free and fast solution, because for the first solution, you have to plan half a day.
We chose the free solution and it starts with a magnificent view of the Manhattan Skyline

Then we pass in front of the Statue of Liberty

After this round trip to Staten Island, we return to Manhattan and take the subway to see the « Chelsea Market » and the « High Line«

We start with the Chelsea Market. It’s a food hall in the Chelsea district

When you leave Chelsea Market, you will find an elevator that allows you to go up to the High Line
The High Line is a suspended walking trail. It was originally an aerial railway. It stretches over 2.3 km. We stroll through the greenery and buildings.

Villages of Manhattan :
- Harlem: Became a residential area after being a ghetto in the 70s. It is the cradle of African-American culture
- Soho: for SOuth of HOuston, is one of the most popular neighborhoods in New York.
- Greenwich Village & West Village: the bohemian neighborhood of New York.
- Meatpacking District: Trendy shopping district
- Chinatown: Chinese neighborhood
- Little Italy: Italian neighborhood
- East Village: Known for its nightlife
We have to make a choice and choose to see Greenwich Village, Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown

We start with Greenwich Village. The atmosphere of the neighborhood is very different from the skyscraper neighborhoods. It feels like Amsterdam

In this neighborhood, you will find the magnificent Washington Square Park. It is known for being a meeting point for chess players.

If you are a fan of the series « Friends« , know that even if the filming of the series was done in Los Angeles, Monica’s famous apartment was supposed to be in Greenwich Village in Manhattan (90 Bedford St, New York, NY 10014, United States)

We continue our tour in Soho before arriving in the district of « Little Italy«

We end our tour of the villages of Manhattan in ChinaTown

Even if we are feeling tired after a long day, we continue our tour to visit the exterior of the Rockefeller Center.
The Rockefeller Center is a commercial complex built by the Rockefeller family. It contains many shops and performance halls…

Before going home, we go through Times Square to buy gifts. Note that the “Grand Slam New York” store (located on Broadway in the heart of Times Square) is a good place to buy the iconic hats and sweatshirts with the letters NY
