This is our second day of visiting New York. Program of the day:
- Walk through the streets of Manhattan and 5th Avenue
- See the Empire State Building
- Live the Summit One experience
- Visit the Grand Central Terminal
- See the new World Trade Center and the Ground Zero memorial
- Cross the Brooklyn Bridge
- Visit the Brooklyn neighborhood
- See Times Square at night
We start by going to Manhattan via the PATH train and the subway. We start our tour in Manhattan with the 5th Avenue
The « 5th Avenue » is a legendary avenue in Manhattan. You can find in it the biggest luxury brands as well as prestigious buildings. It is ranked among the most expensive shopping streets in the world
We continue our stroll through the streets of Manhattan to arrive next to the Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is one of the most iconic skyscrapers in New York

We finally arrive at Summit One Vanderbilt.

The Summit One Vanderbilt is a 93-floor skyscraper attached to the « Grand Central Terminal« . You can access the upper floors and enjoy the view of Manhattan.

We made the reservation online (€40 per person) for an entry at 09:30
The visit begins by collecting sunglasses distributed at the reception. We go up to floor 91. The experience begins as soon as we go in the elevator.
We arrive at a platform with a mirrored floor.

With a breathtaking view of Manhattan

You will also find rooms with balloons, mirrors … It is a beautiful experience at the top of Manhattan

The advantage of choosing to do this experience at Summit One instead of the Empire State Building, is that by making this choice, you will be able to see the Empire State building:

at the end of this experience, you will have the opportunity to take a photo on a platform with a transparent floor. You must not be afraid of heights. You will only have a few seconds before giving way to visitors who are waiting in a long line.

We finish the visit and take advantage of the proximity of the « Grand Central » station to visit it.
The Grand Central Terminal is 100 years old. It currently serves as a local train terminal as well as a major subway station
It is one of the emblematic places of New York with its Central Hall and the golden clock located there. This station is a cult place used by cinema (Armageddon, I am Legend, Falling in Love, Inside Man, Madagascar, Avengers …), literature, video games …

To return to our accommodation in New Jersey, we choose to take bus No. 119. The advantage of this means of transport is to avoid the underground journey in order to enjoy the view, and also, with this bus, we arrive 10 minutes walk from our accommodation. The bus leaves from the « Port Authority Bus Terminal » station

After a short break, we leave with the PATH train to the World Trade Center station. Before going to the Brooklyn Bridge, we take a quick tour around the « World Trade Center » station
Ground Zero is the September 11 Memorial. It was built in place of the World Trade Center in tribute to the victims of the September 11 attacks. There are two huge pools engraved with the names of the victims

One World Trade Center is the skyscraper built after the attacks of September 11, 2001

We quickly finish this little tour and leave on foot towards the Brooklyn Bridge
PS: To cross the Brooklyn Bridge on foot, you have to go to the beginning of the bridge, quite far from the bank of the East River

Unlike the day before, we arrive at the bridge before nightfall and with favorable weather.
Brooklyn Bridge is a mythical bridge that connects Brooklyn and Manhattan. It is 2 km long and has 2 floors (one floor for vehicles and one floor for pedestrians and cyclists). It is a must-see when visiting New York.

From the Brooklyn Bridge, you can see the Manhattan Bridge

After crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, we arrive in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood.

In this neighborhood is the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

This is where you will have one of the most fantastic and mythical views of Manhattan and its Skyline

You can even see the Statue of Liberty

There is the « Time Out » food market with its bars and restaurants. It’s a good idea to have a drink in the effervescent atmosphere of Brooklyn

We stay in the “Brooklyn Bridge Park” (40°42’11.1″N 73°59’46.9″W) until nightfall to see the Manhattan Skyline light up

After nightfall, we leave for Times Square by Subway

Times Square is known for its thousands of light screens. We have already visited this place during the day, but at night it is really impressive

After a long day, we return to our Airbnb
