We take advantage of the morning calm to take a little tour in the alleys of the island among schoolchildren, farmers and animals. It is truly an authentic side of Egypt.

After this little tour, head to the public boat pier to cross the Nile.
We find a taxi driver with whom we negotiate a return trip to the Philae temple (He will wait for us there for 2 hours) for 300 EGP (6 €)
We arrive at the temple parking lot, we buy our entrance tickets for 40 EGP: 0.8 € per person (special Arab price). The normal price is 550 EGP: 11 €

The temple is located on the island of Aguilkia accessible only by boat. The transfer is not included in the entrance ticket. You have to negotiate with the small boats waiting for tourists. We get by for 250 EGP (5 €) for the return trip with a wait of 1 hour.

we are already starting to see the temple
It is the most famous temple in the city of Aswan. Its name comes from its original island (Philae Island). After the construction of the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s, the rising level of the Nile threatened to submerge it. The temple was completely cut up and moved to the island of Aguilkia. Huge!

The temple is magnificent and can be visited in 1 hour.
There you will find Trajan’s Kiosk: served as a pier on the Nile and the « Hadrian Gate »

We return to our accommodation for a short break, but first, a short stop at King Jamaica to have lunch

It is said that the best sunsets are observed on the Nile. We have to cross Elephantine Island to enjoy the sunset.

This walk allows us to enjoy the beauty of the interior of the island with its alleys and authentic houses.

We arrive in time to admire a magnificent sunset.

For the evening, we choose to cross the Nile to the city of Aswan to discover its souk (Aswan Market)

The market is very large and lively. You can find all kinds of products (food, clothing, souvenirs, etc.)

On our return to our island, we spend the evening in « King Jamaica« . We love this place

Tomorrow, we leave Aswan towards Abu Simbel on the border with Sudan. But we will return to Aswan for a last night in the Nubian village
