Egypt Day 2 : Hurghada

We have thought about booking a sea excursion for the day, but the slightly windy weather, the water temperature and the management of the possible fatigue of our 2-year-old baby discouraged us.

In Hurghada, you can take excursions to the Giftun Islands, Orange Bay and Mahmya Island

Excursions in Hurghada

So, today’s program: discovering the city center of Hurghada.

We installed the taxi applications: Careem & Indrive.
Depending on the Egyptian city, one of these 2 applications or Uber is more practical. For Hurghada, Careem works very well.

After breakfast at our hotel, we find a taxi via Careem to the Al Mina Mosque (Mosque of the port) for 50 EGP (1 €)

Departure to the Al Mina Mosque

Even if Hurghada is a small quiet seaside resort at this time of year, we discover life in Egyptian cities with its horns and frenzy.

After a few photos in front of the mosque (It is Friday, the big prayer day, access to the interior is restricted to people praying),

Hurghada – Al Mina Mosque

We head to the Marina

Tour in Hurghada

We take a little tour in the Marina. It is a pretty small marina with Yachts, cafes, restaurants and small shops

Hurghada – Marina

We return to our hotel by Taxi (we took directly in the street, but we had to negotiate well to get the Careem rate). The taxi cost us 75 EGP (1.5 €).
Our reservation being All Inclusive, we have lunch at the hotel and rest a little.

During the afternoon, head to the hotel beach for a little swim in the Red Sea. The water is cold but that doesn’t discourage us.

Hurghada – Red Sea

Return to the hotel for dinner. The food is okay but not extraordinary. It’s an international buffet with some Egyptian specialties.

To finish the evening, we go out for a walk next to the hotel. It is a very touristy area, with its hotels, cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. Of course, it is not authentic Egypt, but the journey has only just begun.

Hurghada

We return to the hotel for the night, tomorrow we leave for Luxor. We can’t wait.
