Day 02 : Switzerland (Thun and Interlaken)

We leave quite early from Colmar towards Interlaken. The goal of the day is to visit « Harder Kulm » which is a viewpoint at 1,322 meters offering a sumptuous view of the mountains and lakes. A read postcard of Swiss nature.

Route of the day: Crossing Switzerland

In order to be able to drive on Swiss highways, you will have to buy a € 40 sticker that you need to stick on the windshield. These « vignettes » are available in highways rest areas when you enter Switzerland and are valid for 16 months : From November to February.

On our way to « Interlaken » we make a stop at the city of « Thun ».

Thun

It is a very beautiful city crossed by the canals of « Lake Thun ». We made a tour of the city in 2 hours and continue our journey to “Interlaken”.

Even though it was July, the weather was not summery and the city of « Interlaken » was covered with clouds. After reflection, we abandon our goal of climbing to the top of “Harder Kulm”. The view from the heights is corrupted by the clouds.

It is a big disappointment, but we still can enjoy the exceptional landscapes of Switzerland. Interlaken is perfectly located between 2 lakes and mountains.

Interlaken

We follow the coast of « Lake Brienz » before resuming our journey towards the Italian border.

« Brienz lake »

We arrive at our second accommodation of the trip. It is located on the edge of the Como lake in the village of « Menaggio »
