BANGKOK (Thailand): Temples, Street Food and Markets

Upon arrival in Thailand, we spent one night in Bangkok before going to Krabi. We did not do any visits during this night. We took the hotel « Pho Place » (99 Trok Pho, Samphanthawong, Bangkok) at 32 €

After a tour of Krabi, Koh Lanta, Phi Phi and Phuket, we returned to Bangkok from Phuket by plane:

Flight: Phuket City (HKT) – Bangkok (BKK)
Date: 04/01/2024
Departure: 14:25
Arrival: 16:05
Flight duration: 01:40
Company: AirAsia
Price for 2 people with a 1-year-old baby and 2 pieces of luggage: 260 €

Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport has the 3rd largest terminal in the world.
To get to the city, you can use:

Airport Rail Link :
known to be the fastest and most convenient way. It costs 45 THB: 1.2 €.
It connects the airport to the city center
You can connect with the MRT (metro) or the BTS (sky train) depending on your destination.
This is the cheapest solution. We tried it when we arrived in Bangkok at the beginning of our trip. The only problem is the connection with the metro: 10 minutes with stairs, elevators. A bit tiring with luggage and a stroller.

From Bangkok airport by public transport

By Taxi :
This time, we took a taxi via Uber.
Otherwise for official taxis, they are on level 1 of the airport. There are automatic terminals to book a taxi. You must insist with your driver so that he uses the meter (taximeter) to avoid any problems. If he refuses, you can either negotiate with him or go out to get a new ticket.
In general, the journey from the airport to the center takes a little less than an hour and costs around 300 THB (8 €). You have also to pay the toll (about 50 THB: 1.4 €)

From Bangkok Airport by Taxi

By Bus :
Bus transport to and from the airport is a bit complicated and not very interesting

PS: Outside the airport, to get around Bangkok:

  • Skytrain & Metro: 2 Skytrain lines (aerial metro: BTS) and one train line (MRT). Journeys cost between 16 and 44 baht or you can pay a daily rate for 140 THB
  • Taxi: Taxi is a practical and economical option. This option can be more interesting than traveling by metro and skytrain. This is the option we preferred. To avoid any problems, book your taxi via Grab
  • Tuk-tuk exist in Bangkok, but they are more widespread in other cities
  • Buses: The bus network is very developed but very complicated to use. But it remains an option to test if you have the time and the desire.
  • Boat: there are also public boat solutions to cross the river. We used one to go to the temple of Wat Arun

We arrive at our hotel in Bangkok, our last accommodation in Thailand. This is a nice, clean hotel with a swimming pool and breakfast service included in the price

Our stay in Thailand is over, we leave with lots of memories, but also quite a few regrets because of the many things we were not able to do, especially in Bangkok and Phuket. But, this is our first big trip with our 1 year old baby. We had to make compromises. We will definitely come back another time to enjoy this beautiful country even more.

We had prepared an optimistic plan, but in the end, in Bangkok, we did less than half of the planned visits:
