Malaga Costa Del Sol airport is modern and perfectly located just 8 km from the city centre. It is an ideal starting point to explore the Andalusian region.

We have booked a rental car for two days in Malaga. We will use it to visit the city and to have a trip to Marbella.

Our accomadation is a beautifully decorated apartment and perfectly located in the center of Malaga. This central position allows us to be close to the main attractions of the city. We are delighted.

We settle into our room and enjoy a little rest before going out to start exploring the city.

After 200 meters, we arrive at the splendid Plaza de la Constitución: It is one of the most emblematic squares in the historic center of the city. It is surrounded by historic buildings. It is a lively place and an ideal starting point to explore the old town. The square is paved with stones and decorated with ceramic benches typical of the region.

We finish admiring the typical architecture of Malaga in this magnificent square with its whitewashed facades and wrought iron balconies

We continue our tour to the Cathedral of Malaga, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. It has an imposing façade and sumptuous interiors, with magnificent chapels and a baroque altar.

We continue our exploration through the charming little streets of the city center, we soak up the lively atmosphere of Malaga, between shops, tapas bars and small shaded squares.

On the way back from Marbella, we take advantage of having the car to take a little tour of an Outlet on the outskirts of the city: Designer Outlet Malaga (36°39’32.4″N 4°28’38.7″W).
It is a modern, open-air shopping center. You can find a wide range of designer brands at discounted prices. It is located near the airport.

Our car is rented until the next day at 12:00. We don’t need it anymore. To avoid paying for parking for the night and also wasting time the next day to bring it back to the airport. We decide to return the car. Direction Malaga airport

Once the car is dropped off at the rental car park at the airport, we look for a means of transport to go from the airport to the city center.
The journey is easily done by train. It is quick and comfortable


Our third day in Malaga begins with a visit to the Atarazanas market

Atarazanas is an emblematic covered market in Malaga. We stroll among the colorful stalls of fresh fruit, local fish and typical Andalusian products. The atmosphere is lively and authentic, a real treat for the senses.

We take a seat in a small alley next to the market, in a small café to have breakfast.

The café “Casa Aranda” (36°43’07.7″N 4°25’24.2″W) have churros with coffee.
Churros are a classic in Spain. It is fried pastries, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, often sprinkled with sugar and served with hot chocolate or caramel.

Then we start to explore the city again until we arrive at the port of Malaga
The port is located in the heart of the city, it presents a fascinating mix of modernity and history. This former commercial port has been transformed into a dynamic space welcoming luxury yachts, cruise ships, and tourists.

The port promenade, lined with palm trees and gardens, is ideal for a stroll with a magnificent view of the sea

At the end of the promenade, you cannot miss the Pompidou Center of Malaga. It is a museum of modern and contemporary art. It presents a selection of works from the collection of the Pompidou Center in Paris, with temporary exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, videos and installations.
We did not visit the museum but we admired its colorful structure from the outside, symbolized by a multi-colored glass cube. Its structure contrasts with the port

We turn around and head back towards the city center. We pass by Malaga Park. It is a vast botanical garden located in the city center
It is a true haven of peace in the heart of the city. It is decorated with statues, fountains and paths lined with palm trees, flowers and tropical plants.
Málaga Park is a place appreciated by locals and tourists, perfect for a moment of calm in the middle of the urban hustle and bustle.
We take the opportunity to take a nice walk and relax in this green space.

After a break at our accommodation, we go out in the evening to discover Malaga’s nightlife. The city is very lively, restaurants and bars stay open until late at night. This is one of the characteristics of Spanish cities and we love this atmosphere.
PS: The liveliest part at night is on the side of the squares « Plaza Del Carbón » and « Plaza Del Siglo »


This is our departure day for Seville. Our bus leaves at 12:00.
We take advantage of the morning to make a last tour of Malaga.
We get lost in the streets of the city center starting with the Plaza de la Constitution, the heart of the old town and passing by the Cathedral of Malaga. Then, we walk through the lively pedestrian streets, passing by Calle Larios, famous for its shops.

We finish our tour, collect our luggage and take a taxi to the Malaga bus station « Estación de Autobuses de Málaga » (Paseo de Los Tilos: 36°42’46.9″N 4°26’01.9″W). We take our bus to Seville (Plaza de Armas). See our visit to Seville

It is a fortress of Muslim origin dating from the 11th century, built by the Nasrid kings. It is on a hill and offers spectacular views of the city and the sea. It is an impressive example of Andalusian heritage, testifying to the history and culture of the region.

Gibralfaro Castle:
It overlooks the city of Malaga. Initially, it was a military fortress that offered a strategic view of the port and the Mediterranean Sea. The castle is connected to the Alcazaba by a fortified road.

Roman Theatre of Malaga:
It is a major vestige of the Roman Empire. It is one of the oldest monuments in the city. It could accommodate up to 2,200 spectators and was used for theatrical performances and public events.
